Privacy Policy

Chorify ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Chorify mobile application ("App") and the website at chorifyapp.com ("Website"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account information: Email address and password when you create an account.
- Profile information: Display name and username that you choose during profile setup.
- Date of birth: Used solely to verify you are 13 or older. We store only whether you meet the age requirement — we do not store your exact date of birth if verification fails.
- User content: Posts, comments, and photo proof of chore completions that you voluntarily submit through the App.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device information: Device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers (used for push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging).
- Usage data: App interactions such as chore completions, achievement progress, and feature usage. This data is used to provide the Service (leaderboards, achievements, recaps) and is not sold to third parties.
- Log data: Server logs may include IP addresses, request timestamps, and error information for debugging and security purposes.
1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
- Payment card numbers or banking information (handled entirely by Apple and Google)
- Location data
- Contacts or address book data
- Health or biometric data
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Create and manage your account
- Process household memberships, chore assignments, and gamification features
- Send push notifications (chore reminders, achievement unlocks, trade proposals) based on your notification preferences
- Generate leaderboards, recaps, and achievement progress
- Enforce our Terms of Service and moderate user content
- Respond to support requests
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security issues
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the App. Each processes data as described in their own privacy policies:
3.1 Firebase (Google Cloud)
We use Firebase for authentication, database (Data Connect / PostgreSQL), cloud functions (server-side logic), cloud storage (photo proof), and cloud messaging (push notifications). Data is stored on Google Cloud servers in the United States.
3.2 RevenueCat
We use RevenueCat to manage subscription purchases and track subscription status. RevenueCat receives your anonymous user identifier and subscription transaction data from Apple or Google. RevenueCat does not receive your email, name, or other personal information.
3.3 Apple App Store & Google Play Store
Subscription payments are processed entirely by Apple or Google. We do not receive or store your payment card information. We receive only transaction confirmations and subscription status from these platforms.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share data only in these limited circumstances:
- With household members: Your display name, username, chore completions, points, and posts are visible to other members of your household(s). This is core to how the Service works.
- With service providers: Firebase (Google Cloud) and RevenueCat, as described above, to operate the Service.
- For legal reasons: If required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Photo proof of chore completions is automatically deleted after admin approval or after one week (auto-approval), whichever comes first.
When you delete your account, your personal data (profile, posts, comments) is permanently removed. Anonymized completion records may be retained for household history purposes (e.g., leaderboard integrity).
6. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at admin@chorifyapp.com and we will promptly delete that information.
Users between 13 and 18 may use the Service with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate personal data. You can update your display name and username directly in the App.
- Deletion: Delete your account and associated data from within the App, or by contacting us.
- Data portability: Request your data in a portable format.
- Opt out of notifications: You can disable specific notification types or all notifications from the App's notification preferences screen.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@chorifyapp.com. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from within the App (Profile > Settings > Delete Account). Account deletion is permanent and includes:
- Removal of your profile, posts, and comments
- Removal from all households
- Anonymization of chore completion records
- Deletion of your Firebase Authentication account
- Revocation of any RevenueCat subscription association
If you are unable to delete your account through the App, you may request deletion by emailing admin@chorifyapp.com from the email address associated with your account.
9. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information, including:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) for all communications
- Firebase Authentication with secure password hashing
- Server-side authorization checks on all database operations
- Webhook authentication with secrets stored in Firebase Secrets Manager
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International Data Transfers
Your data is stored and processed on Google Cloud servers located in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through the App. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
